Always Drink Your Water
August 10, 2009
Summer heat, sports practices and long days at camp are important reasons for adults and children alike to drink enough liquids.
Adequate hydration varies among individuals, but current guidelines call for nine cups of fluid per day for women and 13 cups per day for men. However, this does not account for increase in hydration needs during physical activity or in high summer temperatures.
If you or your kids are spending time under the sun or participating in summer sports, a general guideline for staying well hydrated is to drink at least one-half cup of liquid for every 15 minutes of physical activity.
