If you’re counting calories, just a reminder as you head out for New Year’s revelry: Alcohol contains calories just like food does. This chart tells how many calories are contained in an average drink.

 Drink  Calories
 Beer: regular, 12 oz.  150
 Beer: light, 12 oz.  100
 Wine: dry, 5 oz.  100
 Wine cooler: 12 oz.  180
 Distilled spirits (80-proof): 1 1/2 oz.*  100
 Cordial or liqueur: 1 1/2 oz.*  160
*Mixers add calories

Remember, have fun but also stay safe this New Year’s Eve. Don’t worry that one night will throw you off your plan.
