ADA Elections Process
Call for Nominations
ADA announces the call for nominations for national Association positions through e-mail, print publications and the Internet.
Solicitations for Nominees
The Nominating Committee sends requests for nominations to dietetic practice groups, affiliate associations, the Commission on Dietetic Registration, the House of Delegates, the Commission on Accreditation of Dietetics Education, the Board of Directors and past presidents.
Preliminary Reviews
Materials submitted thus far are reviewed and compared to the skill sets of each position. Nominees are asked to send complete biographical sketches, digital photos and curriculum vitas or resumes.

Nominee Interviews
During FNCE, the Nominating Committee interviews candidates for the President-elect, Treasurer-elect and Speaker-elect positions. Committee members also visit practice group, affiliate and networking group meetings to encourage nominations and voting.Committee Meeting
The Nominating Committee meets in late fall to review the materials submitted by candidates, taking into consideration which positions are available on the ballot and matching candidates to skill sets.
Slate of Candidates Announcement
Candidates are announced for positions and support material including photos, biographical sketches and responses to questions posed by Nominating Committee are posted online and in print publications.
Voting Opens
During the month of February, members participate in national ADA elections through paper ballots or electronic voting.
Election Results Announcement
ADA announces election results to members after all votes are tallied and candidates have been notified.
Nominating and Election Process Review
Each step of the nomination and election process is evaluated. Input is sought from candidates, Nominating Committee members and ADA members.
