Free CE on Health Literacy from HRSA
Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA)
Subject: Health Literacy 5 CEUs
The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) offers a free online course as an innovative way to advance health literacy efforts:
"Unified Health Communication 101: Addressing Health Literacy, Cultural Competency, and Limited English Proficiency."
You may choose to take the course for five credits (CEU/CE, CHES, CME, CNE) or not for credit.
Addressing health literacy in the health, education, and policy arena is essential and a shared function. By sharing the responsibility we can work with individuals we interact with on a daily basis to improve literacy, health literacy, and the ability to access and understand information. This HRSA course was developed in partnership with several Federal Agencies, including the National Library of Medicine. The audience for the course includes physicians, nurses, dentists, pharmacists, physician assistants, hospital and healthcare administrators, health educators, community health and outreach workers, social workers, librarians, academic faculty, staff such as receptionists and office management staff.
This course is also helpful for consumers who want to improve their ability to talk with their healthcare provider, understand health information and access care.
