Issue Impacting the Profession

Recognition for members of the American Dietetic Association as the source for food and nutrition services is an issue that will impact our profession today and tomorrow. By continuing my education and by developing a professional development portfolio that focuses on a stronger educational foundation I feel I am taking step toward achieving the values of attention to excellence and life-long learning.

How have you promoted ADA's mission/vision/values?

I continually seek out new educational opportunities that will aid in maintaining competence and in developing new skills and strive to utilize this knowledge in collaborative efforts with other dietetic technicians and registered dietitians to provide better care for patients/clients.

In assessing your skills, which ones do you think best prepare you to be an ADA leader and why?

Acting as a liaison between food service operations, the clinical nutrition team, and patients/clients has provided an ability to be objective, think strategically and focus on customer satisfaction. These skills are essential in working well as a team player and allows for the development of a strong network of professional support systems.
