Issue Impacting the Profession
Though I have felt this way for some time, upon review of the literature for two Evidence Analysis Library projects, I believe even more strongly that dietitians should become more involved with research at the clinical level. The main action I have taken related to this issue is that I have been a clinician who also conducts research.
How have you promoted ADA's mission/vision/values?
To promote ADA's vision of embracing evidence-based dietetics practice, I have participated in two Evidence Analysis Library workgroups, written peer-reviewed papers and toolkits based on these findings, worked on a steering committee for a research network designed to test dietetics-based research questions and also worked on a committee that oversees evidence-based dietetics practice.
In assessing your skills, which ones do you think best prepare you to be an ADA leader and why?
I am an example of how a clinician can also be a researcher. I have some experience in working with ADA at the national level and possess critical thinking skills.
