Issue Impacting the Profession

Evidence-based practice — developing it and implementing it into clinical practice. I am honored to serve on the Evidence-Based Practice Committee. I have solicited articles on the EAL for Support Line and ask authors to incorporate EAL citations into articles. I cite the EAL in my personal presentations as well as in my manuscripts. I also incorporate the recommendations of the EAL into my clinical practice.




How have you promoted ADA's mission/vision/values?

I strive to promote ADA and its mission/vision/values in all my presentations and articles. As Chair of DNS, I created a task force to develop a list of references and recommendations for our members who were struggling to get recognition and respect from colleagues in the hospital. Increasing the visibility and self-confidence of the RD is conducive to making our members the most valued source of nutrition information and services.

In assessing your skills, which ones do you think best prepare you to be an ADA leader and why?

I am organized, outcome oriented, dedicated and self-assured. I have a sense of humor along with a clinical and a business perspective. I am knowledgable about ADA and the relationships among the ADA entities (BOD/HOD/DPG/CDR/CADE/ADAF/ADA staff). My combination of skills will enable me to:

  1. Work cooperatively with others while maintaining the focus on ADA's strategic plan,
  2. Exhibit self-confidence with presentations and the media, and
  3. Support the vision, mission and values of ADA.
