Diversity in Dietetics Education
CADE supports the belief that ADA’s mission and vision are most effectively realized through a diverse membership. As in all health professions, diversity is necessary for access to and the quality of services for the public. To increase diversity in educational programs, ADA developed a tool kit for dietetics educators and practitioners to use in mentoring diverse students for dietetics careers. The toolkit can be used to establish:
- community-based mentoring programs for K-8 and high school students that will raise awareness of dietetics careers and increase the pool of potential students from underrepresented groups, and
- college and university-based mentoring programs that will attract and retain students from diverse cultures in dietetics education programs.
