Scientific and Practical Information You Need for Continued Career Success

  • Keep current with ADA's Member-Only Web site — Features include the online version of the Journal of the American Dietetic Association, an online education center where you can earn continuing professional education credit, and news about the Association's strategic actions. The Web site offers a variety of other valuable resources including links to affiliate dietetic associations and dietetic practice groups.

  • ADA News Bytes — This e-newsletter from ADA's Board of Directors provides members with monthly updates on events, initiatives, and web resources.

  • ADA Times — Delivered right to your mailbox, this quarterly magazine emphasizes breaking food and nutrition news, hot topics in nutrition, practice tips, public policy issues, Association news and events, professional and personal growth, legal and financial issues, and career development.

  • Journal of the American Dietetic Association — Visit the Journal online for searchable back issues through 1993. Members also enjoy up to four CPE hours in each issue of the Journal at no additional cost.

  • ADA Daily News — Receive a free daily e-mail briefing of the nation's leading print and electronic news sources for important food, nutrition, and health news.

  • Enhance your client referral base with the Nationwide Nutrition Network (NNN) directory and search tool — FREE with Active category membership. You do not need to be in private practice to participate. Represent your own practice, a group practice, or your employer in ADA's referral service for dietetics professionals.

  • Evidence Analysis Library — Provides quick and ready access to the latest and best scientific and evidence-based information, including summaries of research in diseases and conditions like childhood overweight hyperlipidemia and critical illness.

  • Member Service Center — For your routine questions, dues payments, or to place catalog orders, the ADA Member Service Center provides streamlined communications, via a live voice answering the ADA telephones at 800/877-1600, ext. 5000, Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Central.

Representation
Your Voice in Washington, the Media and Industry Policy Debates

  • Policy and Advocacy — Benefit from the efforts of the ADA's Health Care Financing Team, which advocates on behalf of members to managed care organizations, private insurers and self-insured employers, as well as the ADA Political Action Committee (ADAPAC), one of the top health care PACs. Also members build their own advocacy skills by attending the annual Public Policy Workshop, which focuses on key legislative and regulatory issues affecting the profession.
  • Public Education Campaigns — Reap the rewards of public campaigns like National Nutrition Month®, including Registered Dietitian Day, that educate consumers and other health care professionals about nutrition and the ADA member's role as a dietetics professional. In addition, the ADA's network of spokespeople throughout the country responds to media questions on a variety of topics.

  • Scholarships — The Americana Dietetic Association Foundation helps to grow the dietetics profession through its scholarship program that encourages eligible students to enter the field and helps dietetics professionals enhance their career.

  • Affiliate Dietetic Associations — Members build partnerships and network with their colleagues at the state and district level. All ADA members receive automatic membership in an affiliate (state) association of their choice.

  • Member Interest Groups (MIGs) — Member Interest Groups are ADA members who share a common interest. MIGs focus on areas other than the practice of dietetics or geographic location. They reflect the characteristics of ADA's membership and the public it serves.
